UNICEF

Unicef (United Nations Children's Fund) was created on 11th December, 1946. 

Unicef´s objective is to provide long term humanitarium and development assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. 

The Founders were the United Nations of general assembly, the movement started on the countries that had been devastated by the world War II.

 

Most of UNICEF's work is in the field, with staff in over 190 countries and territories. More than 200 country offices carry out UNICEF's mission through a program developed with host governments. Seventeen regional offices provide technical assistance to country offices as needed.

UNICEF's Supply Division is based in Copenhagen and serves as the primary point of distribution for such essential items as vaccines, antiretroviral medicines for children and mothers with HIV, nutritional supplements, emergency shelters, family reunification and educational supplies, among others.

The Headquarters are situated in New York City.

 

Unicef has a worldwide presence, it works on 158 countries.

Africa -  Gabon, Ghana, Guinea- Bissau

America - Argentina, United States of America, Canada

Europe -  Portugal, France, Sweden

Asia - China, Japan, Iraq

Oceania - Australia

The Portuguese Committee for UNICEF that is located in Lisbon, was established in April 1979. It’s a non-governmental organization with the Statute of Public Utility Association.

We are one of 37 national committees that, in various parts of the world, play an important role in promoting and defending the rights of all children and public awareness in support of UNICEF programs in developing countries.

The UNICEF logo features an adult holding a baby superimposed on a globe and olive branches around the globe.

The logo symbolizes the UNICEF's mission to all the world's children.
