INTERPOL
Interpol was created in 1923 and it’s the world’s largest international police organization with 190 members countries. Dr. Johannes Schober, the president of the Vienna Police, was the founder of this institution with the creation o the International Criminal Police Commission (ICPC) in Austria.
In the first part of the 20th century, several efforts were taken to formalize international police cooperation, but they initially failed. Among these efforts were the First International Criminal Police Congress in Monaco in 1914, and the International Police Conference in New York in 1922.
The Interpol headquarters are situated in Lyon, France.

The General Secretariat is located also in Lyon, France, and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. INTERPOL also has seven regional offices across the world and a representative office at the United Nations in New York and at the European Union in Brussels. Each of our 190 member countries maintains a National Central Bureau staffed by its own highly trained law enforcement officials.
INTERPOL's job is to help police in different countries by working together to solve crimes that cross borders. Every member country has their own INTERPOL office, called a National Central Bureau (NCB), which connects that country's police force with the other members. They share information with each other and have access to a variety of high-tech tools and resources.

The Interpol’s emblem, in use since 1950, has the following elements: a representation of the globe, to indicate that Interpol’s activities are worldwide; Olive brances on either side of the globe to symbolize peace; a vertical sword behind the globe symbolizing the police action; scales symbolizing justice; the official name below and the abbreviations “OIPC” and “ICPO”.
The Organization's official name is "ICPO–INTERPOL".
The official abbreviation "ICPO" stands for 'International Criminal Police Organization'. In French this is "O.I.P.C.", which stands for "Organisation internationale de police criminelle".
The word "INTERPOL" is a contraction of "international police", and was chosen in 1946 as the telegraphic address.
Until 1956, the Organization was known as the International Criminal Police Commission.
