OLYMPIC GAMES
It was the Greeks who created the Olympic Games. Around 2500 BC, the Greeks were already honouring the gods , especially Zeus, with the holding of competitions.
The Olympic Movement encompasses a large number of national and international sports organizations and federations , recognized media partners , as well athletes, officials , judges, and any other person and institution that agrees to abide by the rules of the Charter Olímpica.56 As the umbrella organization the Olympic Movement, the International Olympic Committee (IOC ) is responsible for selecting the host city , overseeing the planning of the Olympic Games , the update and approval of the sports program , and negotiating sponsorship and broadcasting rights.

The emblem was chosen to illustrate and represent the 1914 world Congress: five interlocking rings in different colours - blue, yellow, black, green and red - are placed on the field blank paper. These five rings represent the five parts of the world which now are won over to Olympism and willing to accept healthy competition.
The colours used in the five rings of the flag were chosen and represented by Coubertin because of the frequency in which they appear on the flags of the various nations in the world . At least one of the other colours is present in every flag, so, besides symbolizing the union of the five continents includes all countries, providing a universal way for the Olympics. Each ring represents a continent, with the corresponding blue ring Europe, the yellow ring Asia, black Africa, Oceania green and red America.
In Portugal the Olympic Games are represented in SETÚBAL where they are already preparing the OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION FOR THE 2016 GAMES.

Fernando Pimenta and Emanuel Silva . It was the pair composed of these guys who snatched the laurels of silver medal in these Olympic Games London 2012.
Another important factor is also the canoes used in the Olympic Games are made in Portugal
